Psalm 94:11-15 (CB)

The LORD—knows the thoughts of man, that they are but a breath. Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O LORD, and whom you teach out of your law, to give him rest from days of trouble, until a pit is dug for the wicked. For the LORD will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage; for justice will return to the righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

If all our inward thoughts were broadcast on social media we would avoid all human contact. We think we can hide our self indulgent, envious, lustful and worldly worries, but God sees (v11). Wise believers actually rejoice in whatever drives them to God’s law, His Word, and His gospel (v12). Through this we get relief (v13), a word that means “inward quietness in the face of outward troubles.” While God tests and refines us, he won’t abandon us (v14) despite our sins. Why not? It is because God passed sentence on evil and then suffered the punishment himself in Jesus. Thus we can know “he will never forsake his inheritance” (v14).
