The righteous shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, saying, “See the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches

and sought refuge in his own destruction!” But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever. I will thank you forever, because you have done it. I will wait for your name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly.

With the Lord by his side, David compares himself to an olive tree, flourishing in the house of God. Not only does a flourishing olive tree live for hundreds of years, but it also produces both food for sustenance and olive oil for cooking, light, and dozens of other uses. It represents great productivity and usefulness. Believer’s confidence, like David, is in God’s eternal mercy. God, our Rock to trust in and run to. David, looked, waited, and boasted in the Lord alone. Our future is secure. Jesus has accomplished and secured our salvation. Don’t allow circumstances or others to cause anxiety. Our strength is to sit still and wait on the Lord. He is faithful!
