The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.

Loyal submission to the rule of God is the central and summary admonition of the Bible’s Wisdom Literature. Human beings cannot fathom much of what God knows to be true, nor can they understand the ways of his world, which are controlled by his infinite wisdom. The wisest course of action, therefore, is to submit to his commands in honorable reverence.  God’s judgment of humanity’s deeds has been emphasized throughout this book because this reality was central to the Teacher’s hope for resolution to the dilemmas he and his readers faced. At the final judgment all the perplexing anomalies of life in this fallen world will be resolved because everything and everyone will be judged and shown to be either good or evil.
